01/14/19 State v. Robert Iverson; Robert Blake – Sentencing

STATE V. ROBERT IVERSON; ROBERT BLAKE

On January 11, 2019, Robert Iverson, age 45, of Penns Grove, was sentenced by the Honorable Cristen D’Arrigo, JSC, to seventeen (17) years New Jersey State Prison, with the No Early Release Act applying.  This came as a result of a verdict returned last October, where a jury found the defendant guilty of Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault (2nd degree). The State argued for Iverson to be sentenced to an extended term based on the defendant being a persistent offender.  The motion was granted, doubling the defendant’s exposure to up to twenty (20) years New Jersey State Prison.

Co-defendant Robert Blake, age 23, also from Penns Grove, was sentenced to seven (7) years New Jersey State Prison for the same offense.

The charges were based on events that occurred on September 17, 2016, where an altercation at a baby shower held in Tips Trailer Park escalated when co-defendant, Daiquan Blake, returned to the scene later in the evening with a handgun and fatally shot the victim, Juanita (Sease) Holley of Bridgeton NJ.  Robert Blake and Robert Iverson were alleged to have facilitated the crime by driving Daiquan Blake to and from the crime scene and aiding in the commission of the crime.

Daiquan Blake was convicted earlier this year in the death of Juanita Holley

Elizabeth Vogelsong prosecuted the case on behalf of the State.  Terry Stomel, Esq. represented Defendant Blake and Defendant Iverson was represented by Brian O’Malley Esq.
