Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announces:
The last public session of the Cumberland County Law Enforcement Community Engagement Series of 2016 will be held on Wednesday, November 9th at the Cumberland County College – Luciano Center from 6-8 pm. The session will cover both Internal Affairs and Emergency Management. See flyer below for more info.
This session is the sixth session held in 2016. Previous sessions covered 1. Use of Force; 2. Use of Force Investigations; 3. Law Enforcement Hiring Practices; 4. Incarceration, ReEntry and Expungement; and 5. Police-Citizen Encounters. The Cumberland County Law Enforcement Advisory Board (business, government, faith-based, community & law enforcement leaders) met bi-monthly during 2016 to plan the public sessions. They met recently and felt sessions on things like implicit bias and de-escalation should be planned for 2017.
“This series has been an overwhelming success! Each session has brought out individuals from different parts of the county with diverse backgrounds. We plan on continuing the series in 2017 with programs and workshops that we hope will foster more interactive dialogue between the community and police officers.” said Prosecutor Webb-McRae.
