William Eisenhardt, 32, of Commercial Township, pled guilty to his involvement in the August 2015 death of Christian Gibson, 20, of Buena. The guilty plea was entered in Superior Court on Friday, March 22nd before the Honorable Michael J. Silvanio, J.S.C. in Bridgeton. In exchange for a plea of guilty to first degree Aggravated Manslaughter and second degree Desecration of Human Remains, it is expected that Eisenhardt will be sentenced to an aggregate term of 35 years prison and will have to serve 25 ½ years before being eligible for release.
The incident was alleged to have occurred at Eisenhardt’s residence in the Laurel Lake community of Commercial Township. Gibson was last seen leaving a friend’s residence on Battle Lane on August 25, 2015, and was reported missing by loved ones the following day. Gibson’s body was discovered in the kitchen of Eisenhardt’s house on August 27th by the defendant’s mother who had returned from an out-of-state trip. The medical examiner determined that Gibson had died as the result of massive head injuries caused by blunt force trauma. Eisenhardt was located and arrested on August 29th in Fairfield Township. The investigation was conducted by members of the New Jersey State Police Homicide South Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Criminal Investigations Unit.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant County Prosecutors Charles J. Wettstein and Abigail Holmes. The defendant was represented by Dinaz Akhtar and Andrew Moon, whose offices are in Bridgeton. Sentencing is scheduled for May 6, 2019 before Judge Silvanio.
