CUMBERLAND COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN DEA NATIONAL TAKE BACK DAY ON 4/27/19
Year after year the majority of misused and abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including someone else’s medication being stolen from the home medicine cabinet. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
On Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Police Departments of Bridgeton, Millville, and Vineland, in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public its 17th opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Overall, in its 16 previous Take Back events, the DEA and its partners have taken in almost 11 million pounds of pills across the country.
Prosecutor Webb-McRae is asking the public to bring their pills or patches for disposal (sites cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps) in each department’s mobile Drop Box. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. The events will be held at:
Bridgeton – McDonald’s, 56 E. Broad Street
Millville – Wawa (Cedar & Main), 13 W. Main Street
Vineland – Larry’s II, 907 N. Main Road
Each department is hosting a Coffee With A Cop at their Take Back site. See flyers below. Members of the public can enjoy a courtesy cup of coffee with the officers of the police department. (If members of the public cannot make it to the event, each police department has a prescription medication Drop Box at their police station.) Prosecutor Webb-McRae would like to thank Chiefs Michael Gaimari (Bridgeton), Jody Farabella (Millville) and Rudolph Beu (Vineland) as well as each commercial establishment for participating in this important event.
